Happy New Year to each and everyone of you! Can you believe it? We are in a new year! Two Thousand & Eighteen! I am so excited to be entering into this year as this is the year of mine & Pat’s wedding! 2018. Yay!
I thought the perfect way to start the year would be to share the save the dates we sent out a little while ago. If you remember, I shared more details on our wedding location and how I asked my bridesmaids here in this post. We are having a destination wedding at the end of April in La Romana, Dominican Republic. I feel the actual wedding will be here sooner than later!
I created our save the dates with Minted, the go to online design destination for wedding invitations, holiday cards, photo gifts and more! I had seen a lot of their promotions on Pinterest and loved how each photo I saw was unique and different. I initially felt overwhelmed when I began looking at everything they have online, but I pumped the brakes and narrowed in on the save the dates first. I knew I wanted something tropical and whimsical with the wedding being destination so I used their search bar to type in “tropical” and soon found myself in better shape in making a choice! When you first register with Minted, they send you a whole kit in the mail with the different paper types, color selections, font choices, format choices for invitations and so on. It’s incredibly helpful to have all of these things in front of you and to feel the weight of the paper. For our save the dates, I chose the signature paper because I like how thick it feels. After receiving this little kit, we went online to make our style choice for the cards.
The first step is to start browsing through the hundreds of deigns. The coolest thing Minted does is allows you to choose 10 designs that they send to you for free. You can do this with the save the dates and invitations. They send them to you so you can see it in person! I immediately liked the idea of a postcard save the date and when we received the samples, I knew it was a done deal with the one we chose! I like that the postcards are a bit more casual and it helps that they are a cost savings because of the envelope and weight for mailing. Once Pat and I chose from our sample, I then went online and started the design process, which was super easy. You simply select your design and then you can change all the wording, dates, fonts etc. Simply import your photo(s) you are considering and toggle through them to choose your favorite(s). The same process goes for the back of the card or inside of the invitation depending on what you are creating. You will submit it for review from one of their designers to double check everything will print out okay. The website will notify you when you need to approve the preview and then it is ordered! It is super easy, super efficient and I promise the hardest part of it all is choosing the images you want to use on your save the dates! We went back and forth on so many! You can see in the above I also made stamps to use on the back of the postcards too! There is really an unlimited amount of products on Minted and the design possibilities are endless. Don’t stress if it seems overwhelming, they also really have everything broken out on their website so you can narrow down to what you are thinking. I love how our save the dates turned out and I can’t wait to start designing my invitations and welcome cards for our wedding! You’ll have to stay tuned for them!
I am beyond excited for this year and I can’t wait to see what Pat and I accomplish! Pat and I started a tradition when we moved in together to write down our goals on a little card stock sheet. We write what we want to accomplish in the next four months and hang it in the bathroom (a place you see it often). When we accomplish our goal we check it off and write the date we achieved it. It’s fun to share with each other and keeps us accountable! I think writing goals for a shorter span of time keeps you focused and more centered to actually stick with it and do it!
Do you have a New Year’s resolution?
