You know, “a tiger doesn’t lose sleep over the opinions of sheep”. We live in a world where we are so consumed with what everyone else thinks, do we ever take the time to think about what our own opinion is? How we feel about something? I have been thinking about this a lot lately. The daily headlines of the news seems to always be rallying people to have these crazy protests or cause major commenting uproars on social media. On most days, it seems everything causes a reaction while there is minimum time to investigate, to reflect and then respond. I’m guilty in participating in some of these headlines, cue my immediate anger towards Antonio Brown after he left Pittsburgh [Steelers] angrily, then screwed over the Raiders, however, I’m trying to react slower and reflect sooner. 😉
I’m trying to carry this over to all aspects of my life, including fashion trends. These Levi straight jeans are my new favorite pair of jeans. They are totally retro, launching you back into the nineties. When I first saw them trending, I thought “oh I love them, I want to try them”. I ordered them through the Nordstrom sale and it was instant love. But then I started seeing similar jeans on celebrities, models and other bloggers and I started second guessing them on me! Everyone I was looking at has a way different body shape. I saw these same pair on a blogger and they looked super baggy on her. The next time I threw these on I had thoughts on whether other people would think I looked “bigger” in them. It took a few personal coaching moments to get me through that ridiculous thought because, my friends, WHO CARES what those “other” people would think. Sitting here writing this now, I can laugh at myself. These “other” random people I can’t even tell you who they are because they are so random they probably don’t even exist(!), and they are having an impact on how I think about myself and I how I feel about a pair of jeans? My goodness, “Get out of your own head BRIT”.
I love these Levi straight jeans and I love the photos above. These jeans hug my curves. Curvy is what my body is. I have spent so much time working out and making healthier choices so that I can embrace my curves and love my body!
We all have irrational thoughts from time to time, total human nature but I hope more days than not, that you are a tiger. That you don’t lose sleep over the opinion of any sheep. You got this, I love you girl!
