Hello there! I am beginning to grab some of my favorite summer pieces and pair them with more transitional pieces to get a more fall forward look! It’s been a bit more “crisp” in the mornings when I take Ruby out,-Fall is on its way! I love nothing more in this life than some sunshine and hot temperatures; however, every year when fall flashes its earliest signs, I feel a small excitement because I love throwing on some booties with my dresses and sweaters with my denim!
I am a huge fan of pattern mixing- I think it is a way to express yourself and stand out among others. If you aren’t sure what is too much or too crazy then I advise you to read my tips below!
1. Start with your statement piece. I chose my neon lime green skirt I bought earlier this season at J Crew. See how I wore it in the spring here!
2. Build upon it with a simple solid in a simple silhouette. I chose this black and white striped Ashton blouse from The Limited. It is very similar to the “Portofino Blouse” from Express; Express has a million colors for every outfit imaginable!
3. Add some simple heels. I added my leopard heels I bought from Nordstrom early spring. I am a believer leopard can be worn as a neutral if you keep everything else simple. Since my top is black and white (neutral) and my skirt is bright, then the neutral colors in the printed heels balance out my outfit.
4. Keep your accessories simple as well. I love this little Michael Kors cross body- it fits my bare minimums and is super light when I wear it out. The jewel tone of this cross body doesn’t compete with the neon, but rather stands quietly on its own. I am always surprised how much a darker teal goes with! My necklace is from the boutique Handpicked (you can buy online if you’re not as lucky to have one in your town!) As soon as I saw this necklace, I knew I had to buy it. It has all of my favorite colors in it! I know it is bright, but since it sits on top of the black and white, it doesn’t compete either!
