The Russell Nashville Boutique Hotel was the perfect place to stay on my most recent trip to Nashville, Tennessee. This building has a super unique history. The building was built in 1904 as the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and only 9 years later it was purchased and established as the Russell Street Church of Christ. Over the years the church served as a refuge for its community who went through devastation from a fast spreading fire, an influenza epidemic, a tornado and more! This building always opened its doors to help its community!
My blogger friend, Savilla (vogueforbreakfast) and I stayed in the Room 2:6 which was a fun pink painted room that had two queen beds and a twin sleeper sofa. There was plenty of space which was perfect for us as we tend to bring a lot of clothes, shoes and accessories wherever we go together! We were able to lay out all of our clothes so we could see everything we brought with us! I love the unique design of the pink stripes and how church pews were repurposed to be the headboards and side tables for the beds. The hotel and all of the rooms have keyless entries so it’s super convenient to check yourself in and be able to come and go as you please without remembering to grab the key and all of that!
The Russell is located in the trendy, “fun” neighborhood of East Nashville. East Nashville is known for its street art, quirky vibes, fine dining restaurants and upbeat bars. This location is convenient to other locations such as downtown, The Gulch, Germantown & Sobro. With the use of Uber & Lyft, you can easily get to whatever neighborhood you are wanting to explore with under twenty minutes!
The Russell is also super charitable giving a substantial portion of each night’s stay to local homeless ministries. The average stay provides 16 beds, 100 showers and 30 warm meals at nearby shelters. I aways think it’s amazing when companies and brands build their foundations on giving and positively impacting the communities around them. At The Russell, they have a slogan “Stay Here, Change Lives”. It’s amazing to know you can have a wonderful and unique stay AND be making a difference! I would totally recommend staying here if you ever visit Nashville. My parents want to visit sometime next Spring and Pat has never been either so I might be staying at The Russell again soon too!
